Thank you for considering being a guest on our podcast!
The How of Business Podcast:
“The How of Business” podcast is focused on helping people start, run and grow a small business. Our show provides practical advice, tips and techniques for our listeners. We conduct “friendly” interviews with other successful business owners and professionals who are willing to share their knowledge and experiences with our audience. [read more about us]
Our audience includes aspiring entrepreneurs and existing small business owners. Our listeners are often planning to, or already have transitioned from the corporate world to being their own boss. They are either searching for guidance on how to get started in business, or they are seeking advice on how to improve and grow their small business. They are interested in the entrepreneurial journeys of other successful business owners, and always searching for tips, advice and techniques to help them get started and grow.
Recording Technology & Environment:
For a remote interview, we will use Zencastr to conduct and record the call (audio only). Zencastr uses the internet for the call connection, and facilitates recording of the interview. Zencastr is free, and there is nothing to download or install on your computer.
You will need:
1. Chrome (version 64 or greater) internet browser (download here) installed on a computer with a fast connection to the internet.
• If we have technical issues with Zencastr, then we will use Skype (version 7.28 or greater) as a backup solution. If we need to use Skype, we will require the version that is installed on a computer (not the online version) with a fast connection to the internet, and a Skype account (no cost). You can download Skype for free at www.skype.com
2. An external microphone and headphone attached to your computer are required. The built-in computer microphone and speakers will not work, as it reduces the sound quality significantly. In most cases, for home-based recording, a dynamic (cardioid dynamic) microphone is best since it does not pick up as much background noise (as compared to a cardioid condenser microphone which tends to pick up more background noise).
We recommend the ATR2100-USB, or something comparable.
We also recommend a pop-screen or windscreen.
3. A quiet and private environment with minimal background noise and no interruptions. Remember to turn off your cell phone, and close any applications on your computer that create sounds or alerts.
The Interview Flow:
Our goal is to record a “friendly” interview episode that provides value to our listeners and to you and your business. There are no negative surprise or trick questions, and we will work together to finalize an Interview Episode Outline document. In that document, we will define the main topics or subject areas of the interview, and the primary questions we will ask you. This process will minimize any surprises during the interview and allow you to prepare for the questions ahead of time, while still resulting in a conversational format.
At the scheduled time of the interview, we will begin with a brief pre-interview and sound check. Please plan for a total of 45 to 60 minutes for the entire interview session.
After we record the interview we will process the raw recording, perform any edits, and produce the final podcast episode. We will let you know when the final episode is published, and we invite you to use and share the podcast episode as you desire (i.e. share it on your online sites).
You can listen to The How of Business podcast on iTunes (Business – Management & Marketing), Stitcher or this website.
Thank You, and we look forward to a great interview!
